The open grassed play area at Woburn Way and Ashfield

A few years ago the Parish Council put forward some proposals for minor changes to this open area of land but these were rejected by a number of residents at that time. Under the arrangements applicable to this area of open land for public use no changes can be made without the unanimous approval of all of the residents who live in the properties that were built at the time this area was created. The area is the responsibility of Wyre Council to maintain and this is primarily the cutting of grass during the growing season. However it is sometimes the case that the grass is allowed to grow too high between cutting and it becomes unsuitable for playing on. A further issue is that the cutting contract does not include removal of the cut grass and weeds. The Parish Council will discuss this matter at its next meeting in on July 3rd, as there is clearly a need for this situation to be improved upon. Any resident living adjacent to this open space and wishes to contribute to the discussions about it is most welcome to attend the Parish Council Meeting.

New Development between Garstang Road and the A6.

Residents of Catterall and Claughton-on-Brock Parishes may have seen the advertisement hoarding that has been erected by Miller Homes Limited stating that their planned new development will be a new village centre for Catterall. However the chairman of the respective Parish Councils have jointly written to the Managing Director of Miller Homes Limited and clearly informed him that the location of the sign is actually in Claughton and that there is no plan to relocate the centre of Catterall. Properties in Woburn Way, Ashfield Rise, Mayflower Grove and other properties in that vicinity were given a Catterall postal address when the development was built. This was incorrect as these properties are in Claughton on Brock Parish. The properties on the South side of Joe Lane and in Beaconsfield terrace actually had a Claughton on Brock postal address at that time and for many years since. In fact those properties Council Tax bills are addressed using Claughton on Brock. However what has come to light recently is that the postal addresses for these properties have been changed to Catterall. The Parish Council is not aware of any notification of this having been received by property owners or tenants and why this was done currently remains to be discovered. A joint letter has also been sent to the Chief Executive of Wyre seeking his assistance with this matter. Copies of all correspondence are downloaded to our information section of this website.
