Blocked Gullies, Drains and floodwater problems.

We are all familiar with road surface and footpath problems in the Parish - major or minor and the damage this can do to road surfaces and roadside verges and paths, often causing severe and dangerous erosion and accident risk. The Highways are ultimately the responsibility of the Lancashire County Council (LCC) and although the Parish Clerk and Lengthsman endeavour to do their best to deal with problems and often fix them by self help methods they are limited in what they can do. The Parish Council must to rely upon the LCC Highways team for dealing with tasks that require large machinery and equipment, and in some cases traffic controls are needed to work safely, these are resources not readily availble to the Parish Council. Problems are reported using the Lancashire County Council website using the Love Clean Street Reporting system for highways fault reporting. We knowthat some residents notify others of problems using neihbourhood facebook sites or similar, whilst it is fine that people telling each other about issues and share their complaints - this does not get problems reported or fixed. So please do feel free to report problems yourself directly via Love Clean Streets. However, if you do encounter any problems then please notify the Parish Clerk - also when reporting please make sure you provide clear details of the location, a description of the problem and if possible a photograph which really does help the reporting.
