Blocked Gullies, Drains and floodwater problems.

We are not unfamiliar with flooding problems in the Parish - major or minor and the damage this can result in to road surfaces and roadside verges and severe and dangerous erosion. The Highways are ultimately the responsibility of the Lancashire County Council (LCC) and although the Parish Lengthsman and the Clerk seek to do their best to deal with problems and often fix them by self help methods we are limited in what we can do. We have to rely upon the LCC team for the tasks that require large machinery and equipment and in some cases traffic controls are needed to do work safely and these are resources not availble to Parish Council. Whilst coronovirus is restricting a significant number of activities the County Council are trying to do their best in this difficult time but it is quite clear that many routine tasks and unscheduled arisings reported to them are simply not being responded to. We can only do our best and report problems using the Lancashire County Council website online highways fault reporting system. Please feel free to do this directly if you encounter any problems but make sure you can provide clear details of the location and a description of the problem.
